Why is everyone jumping on the bandwagon again and supporting the 'British' player?

I do not get why people support someone because of where they are from?? This baffles me.
Surely you should support who you like, for their skill etc.
I support players and teams I LIKE not where they are from.
I hate the way everyone wets themselves over the England football team, I would never support that talentless bunch of prima donnas. I would much rather support Italy or Spain (in fact I did support Italy in the Euros)

I think people just jump on a bandwagon.

I have nothing against Murray but I’ve always been a Federer fan so will support who I like, not who is ‘British’
Fading Nag, I am not a chap….I’m a filly

But my point is, people only support him because he is British/ Scottish whatever you want to call it.

  • This is pretty typical of every nationality.
There is a little bit of nationalism in every one of us, even though we try hard to deny this.
In Germany everyone went raving mad about Tennis when Boris Becker first won Wimbledon.
Before then it was a practically unknown sport here.
Now they don’t even show the final on free TV.
So I’m left with no alternative as to watch it livestream on internet, thanks to myp2p.eu
Because I’ve been a fan of both Murray and Federer for many, many years.

And I don’t give a toss if they are Scotish, British, Swiss, Deutsch or any other nationality.
It would still be nice to see Murray win though, but for his sake not Britain’s, as a reward for the unbelievable hard work he’s put in to get where he is.
Federer has won this title many times in any event !

  • My dear chap you are insulting Andys nationatity by putting Britain in inverted commas. He has a British passport. I have tried to explain it in such clear terms, yet there are still those who dont understand?? If you wish to support the Swiss player, thats up to you.

  • We like to support the underdog…..

And it would be pretty amazing if he won….

Might even change the weather, who knows!

  • Sorry, not sure what "British" is. as far as I am concerned its a flag of convenience for me and millions. Don’t support him as Tennis is very dull and I have absolutely NO interest.

  • I dont support anyone as I’d rather watch paint dry.

  • i dont support anyone because of where they come from. i support someone who i like and who i think deserves support. murray does not fit in that category.

  • Well Murray lost as a British Tennis Star. If he had won he would have been called a Scottish Star. So there you have it.
